The Good
The iPod Touch is extremely easy to load songs onto! All you need is iTunes 7 (downloaded from apple.com) and your ready to go. The one thing I did run into with a few of my songs was that if they didn’t have an album name, or if it was spelled differently it wouldn’t go under the correct album name. Make sure you change those before you transfer them to your iPod if you would like for them to be under the same artist or album (spelling must be exact for any of the categories for it to fall under the artist or album case does matter). Navigation on the touch is simple and extremely easy to use.
Play lists
Another nice feature is the play lists. I have a work play list, a working out play list etc…. Different moods bring on different play lists ;).
Photos
Another great feature for me is the photos! I have a daughter and now when people ask me if I have new pictures I can say Oh yea!. You can scan through your pictures one at a time, or do a slideshow. This is great for me!
WiFi
I am loving the wifi (once you get used to the keyboard of course). It is a great feature to have. There have been so many times where I have been out somewhere wondering what time movies etc start. Now I can pop into the local Starbucks or anywhere with a wifi signal and check it out!
The Bad
Keyboard
One of the faults for me is the keyboard sensitivity. I struggled with the keyboard at first hitting the wrong keys and so on. It was a little bit frustrating as I got used to it. It does get easier! You kind of learn where you should hit the keys on your touch to get the one you want.
Calendar
I was really looking forward to the calendar feature on my touch. Come to find out the only way you can use it is to Sync with an iCal or an Outlook calendar. My first response….Bummer! Once you sync your calendar you can not modify entries unless you make the change on your iCal or Outlook calendar and sync it again. My question….Why would they do that? All well I guess Syncing once a month isn’t so bad if your schedule isn’t to complicated!
Over All
I say its worth it. I read a lot of forums etc before I purchased my touch, and nothing compared to my own experience with it…..I tested it out on a few non Techies and they seemed to pick it up right away. I give the iPod Touch an A+ but everyone has their opinions!
See my other blog post on the second generation iPod Touch Here
I actually just picked up the new ipod touch today! They have lowered the price and added many excellent features. I plan to write a new blog post about it tomorrow. You can now get an 8 gig for 229.00. You should check it out on apple.com. I love music so for my the touch is worth it over an xbox 360 which I have also owned ;). I actually no longer have the Xbox 360 and I am still in love with the iPod touch. I hope this makes your decision a bit easier. I agree the screen would be pretty hard to scratch but if your going to be carrying it in a backpack or purse I do recommend a screen protector.
